1. Clear Your Startup Programs
Too many programs launching at startup is the number one cause of slow boot times. Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), click the Startup tab, and disable anything you do not need immediately when your computer starts.
2. Free Up Disk Space
A nearly full hard drive causes significant slowdowns. Use Disk Cleanup (Windows) or Optimise Storage (Mac) to remove temporary files, empty the recycle bin, and uninstall programs you no longer use.
3. Check for Malware
Malware running in the background consumes resources. Run a full scan with Windows Defender or your preferred antivirus software.
4. Add More RAM
If your computer has less than 8GB of RAM and you regularly have multiple programs open, a RAM upgrade is one of the most cost-effective performance improvements.
5. Switch to an SSD
If you are still using a traditional hard drive (HDD), upgrading to a Solid State Drive (SSD) will make the biggest difference. Boot times can drop from minutes to seconds.
